Today I'm going to answer the much asked question: how to restore performance of a badly infected computer?

You must remember, sometimes, once infected, you can be a victim of bad computer performance forever.

Lets talk about the reasons of this problem first:

  1. Antivirus is not installed
  2. If installed, it is not updated (an out-dated antivirus is same as you don't have it)
  3. USB drives are immediately used without antivirus scan
  4. Sometimes we try to run a program which is detected as harmful by the antivirus and we compromise our security by disabling antivirus' real time protection to use that file.

There are many methods to improve your PC's performance but nothing can make your computer as fast as it was in the beginning except the method I am going to tell you next.

I guarantee that in the wake of following very simple steps, your computer will become as faster as it must be:

  1. Backup your data to any external storage device.
  2. Install a fresh operating system and during installation make sure you have repartitioned your drive.
  3. After fresh installation of OS, install an antivirus (any one) * you can download from here
  4. Update this newly installed antivirus.
  5. Now connect the device that contains your data.
  6. Scan your data and let antivirus remove / delete anything it finds harmful.
  7. After scanning and removing any harmful contents, you can put your data back in your computer.

Now, if there is no hardware problem behind PC's bad performance, your computer will surprise you by working like a charm.

There is not a single method that can make your computer as good as the above-shared method can.

If you can't purchase an antivirus, no problem at all, there are many free antiviruses that will work fine and can be used in above method.

one of the big problem behind the very poor performance of the computer is the installation of Antivirus Software. m working on computer from more than 10 years and in my this period whenever i install the antivirus this cause the low speed poor performance of the computer. so in suggestion is never to install the antivirus, exe files downloaded directly from the internet and also the web sites that contain much of the ads. i hope your computer will work in the finest way.

I used computer for the first time in 1998 when I open yahoo page and after one hour of search I could know how to use Email.

A few years back I thought the same as you believe but finally it is wrong. Now a days it is impossible to run your windows for long time without antivirus. But as you mentioned that don't download .exe(s) and don't go to ads sites then it is possible, you are right!

But safety by limiting the usage is not suitable for all and in this way we are going to use a computer only as a typewriting machine. People do download exe(s) and visit a lot of websites, so the final solution is using up-to-date antivirus.

    Otherwise

    Dont use Internet
    Dont use USBs
Store in your computer only images and other multimedia files

    thats all.

Antivirus slows down the performance of computer but security-wise it is necessary for the safety of data and operating system. I think, a little bit slower is better than not-working-at-all.

    Good topic, thankyou!
