    10 CLASS ESSAY Air pollution

    Air pollution:

All biological organisms require air for breathing. All the green plants need carbon dioxide for photosynthesis and hence, for making their food. The atmospheric air contains nitrogen, oxygen, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, ozone and other gases. Oxygen is vital for human survival and also for animal life. Carbon dioxide is required by plants. Air pollution is caused by industrialization, urbanization and excessive exploitation of resources. This polluted air is inhaled by humans and plants. Air pollution is caused by industrialization, urbanization and excessive exploitation of resources. This polluted air is inhaled by humans and plants. The result is a complete catastrophe. We are falling prey to new disease and epidemics. The plants are getting extinct for want of proper air supply. Carbon dioxide-oxygen cycle of nature has been disturbed by man himself. The impact of this imbalance has not been felt seriously. However, our environmentalists and the responsible citizens of urban India can feel the heat.
The environment protection act specifies that the industrial workers should be exposed to a noise level of 90 dB(A) at the most for an eight-hour shift. The time limit has to be halved for an increase of every 3dB (B). Exposure to continuous or intermittent noise should not excess 115 dB (A). Further, exposure to impulse noise should never exceed 140 db (A) of peak acoustic pressure.
Air pollution has led to a new environmental catastrophe. Respiratory illnesses, anemia, pulmonary disorders, deafness, severe psychological and psychosomatic diseases and hyperactivity are some of the after-effects of pollution.
Pollution has also started affecting our nervous and mental systems. We must take adequate measures today so that remain healthy and hazard-free.
All the vehicles must be checked for pollution control norms. It is sad to note that people have to be not concerned about pollution control and hence, are forced to get their vehicles tuned.
Further, car pools should be promoted so that people could save fuel and money. The urban centers could also get immense benefits from this unique scheme, which is quite popular in cities like New Delhi, Mumbai, Calcutta, Chennai and other big cities.
Smokeless vehicles and electric cars would soon be a reality. However, efforts should be made to tame the industrial air pollution menace as well. The polluting industries must be taken away from the urban landscape. It is proposed that the heavily polluting industries must be told to shut down their operations else there would be repetition of another disaster on the pattern of the leakage in a factory in Bhopal.
The world is painfully aware of the ill-effects of pollution. Some strict measures have been taken in the west for the control of air pollution; in Britain, for example, electricity is being used for driving bicycles and small vehicles. Westerners also realize the need for control of pollution and are busy developing vehicles that would either work electricity or on hydrogen fuel. Indian must join the world for controlling pollution. Some popular pollution control measures would include a ban on the usage of CFEs, more emphasis on a\car pool system, development of metro railways, plantation of more trees and finally, afforestation. The citizens of the nations must become fully alert to the menace of air pollution and must join hands with the government agencies for controlling it. If suitable measures were not taken, our blue-green planet would decay in environmental terms. Let us rise to the occasion and save it.
